My Penguin Kiss character was inspired by this one by Adel Durant.
Cut three squares of plastic canvas 10 by 10 holes.
Cut the pieces to look like this. They are all different.
I stitch the eyes and beak on the face first. Here is what it looks like.
Finish stitching the pieces as follows, then stitch them together to make the kiss character.
